Facebook is a social network comprised of high school students, college students, alumni and faculty of college institutions. It has become a popular network among members where they can "friend" others based on common interests including schools, activities, workplace, or region where the member is from or current lives.

The benefits of Facebook are numerous:

- Allows one to stay in touch with old friends from high school and college

- Through your friends' notifications, you can become aware of upcoming events in your area

- Joining groups that raise social consciousness make you more aware of events nationally and even worldwide

- Meet college students throughout RI studying to become social workers

 

By having a group on the facebook network:

- Current social work students will learn about the benefits of NASW and become a member

- Current social work students can become members of the group and learn of NASW or RI events they can attend

- Current social work students will have the opportunity to network with other RI social work professionals
